Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is the 1977 album that sold over 40 million copies worldwide — which means original vinyl copies are abundant, but good original copies are surprisingly hard to find. The album was played to death in living rooms across the world, and most surviving copies show it.

First pressings on Warner Bros with the textured gatefold sleeve are the collector's target. US, UK, and European pressings all have their own following. Later reissues (including the 2011 and 2020 remasters) are easily available and sound great, but don't carry collector premiums. Promo copies with radio station stamps are a niche market.

Surface noise is the enemy with Rumours — the quiet passages on songs like "Songbird" reveal every scratch. Grade the vinyl and sleeve separately. Ring wear on the cover is extremely common. Original inner sleeves with lyrics add value. Don't overpay for a "first pressing" without verifying the matrix numbers.
