LEGO Technic 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig

The LEGO Technic 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig is one of the most iconic Technic sets of the 1990s. Released in 1992, this 836-piece truck featured a fully pneumatic claw arm — powered by a battery-operated compressor that made the cylinders actually move. For a generation of Dutch kids, pumping that air system was pure magic.

The set included a 9V electric motor, working steering, and a realistic crane mechanism that could grab and lift objects. It was the ultimate Technic experience before the era of Mindstorms, and one of the first sets to combine electric and pneumatic functions in a single build.
