Thunderdome III - The Nightmare Is Back!

Thunderdome III — The Nightmare Is Back! is one of the defining releases of the early Dutch gabber era. Released in 1993 on the ID&T label, this double CD compilation captured hardcore techno at its most intense, featuring tracks from artists like DJ Buzz Fuzz, The Prophet, and Dano. The Thunderdome series was the soundtrack of the 90s rave underground, and Part III is widely regarded as one of the strongest entries.

Thunderdome compilations are collectible because they are time capsules of a scene that shaped electronic music history. The early volumes — especially I through V — carry the most weight among collectors. Original pressings with intact booklets and the classic Thunderdome wizard artwork are particularly sought after. The series also has deep nostalgic value for anyone who lived through the Dutch hardcore era.

When buying, always check which pressing you are getting. First pressings on the Arcade label are the most desirable — later re-presses and budget reissues exist and are worth considerably less. Inspect disc condition for scratches, and make sure both CDs are present. The jewel case and booklet matter too: a complete copy with undamaged artwork is worth significantly more than a loose disc in a generic sleeve.
