Dragon Ball Flippos, Pogs and Caps
About this item
Dragon Ball Flippos were part of the massive Flippo craze that swept the Netherlands and Belgium in the mid-90s. Distributed by Smiths chips in 1996, these small circular discs featured Dragon Ball Z characters and were collected, traded, and battled with on schoolyards everywhere. For a generation of Dutch kids, Flippos were as important as the shows themselves.
The Dragon Ball series is one of the most collectible Flippo sets because it combined two obsessions of 90s youth: Flippo collecting and anime. Complete sets in good condition are increasingly hard to assemble, especially with the holographic and special edition variants. Nostalgia drives this market hard — these are the people who fought over trades at recess, now grown up and willing to pay for the ones they never got.
When buying, condition is everything for Flippos. Look for clean surfaces without scratches, bends, or fading. The printed side should be vibrant with no peeling. Check that any holographic Flippos still have their reflective layer intact. Buying complete sets is usually more cost-effective than chasing singles, but rare variants can command surprisingly high individual prices. Beware of lots mixed with non-Dragon Ball Flippos being sold as if they are all from the same set.
