About this item
DuckTales is Capcom's 1989 NES platformer based on the Disney Afternoon cartoon, and a defining title of the late 8-bit era. Players control Scrooge McDuck on a globe-trotting treasure hunt through five non-linear stages — the Amazon, the Himalayas, Transylvania, an African Mine, and the Moon — using his pogo cane to bounce on enemies, smash blocks and pole-vault over gaps. The Moon Theme, composed by Hiroshige Tonomura, became one of the most beloved chiptunes in video game history.
This is one of the most sought-after NES games on the PAL market. The cartridge label features Scrooge's portrait against a vivid yellow background that fades unevenly with sun exposure — a clean, saturated label is itself a value driver. The Disney license and Capcom's polished design have kept demand steady decade after decade.
For top-tier value, look for a complete-in-box copy with the original cardboard sleeve, the foam insert and the manual with its detailed map and character bios. Loose carts trade well too, but boxed European PAL copies — especially the Scandinavian FRG variant — command serious collector premiums.
