Mighty Max — Bluebird Toys Micro Playset & Horror Heads (1992)

Completeness is everything on Mighty Max — the tiny figures are what the money is for. A Doom Zone shell with its two or three micro-figures missing is worth a fraction of the same set intact, and a sealed or carded example runs several times higher again. The large playsets like Skull Mountain, and the Horror Heads and Dread Heads sub-lines, carry the top prices; a loose skull shell is pocket change.

Bluebird Toys launched Mighty Max in 1992 as the boys' answer to its own Polly Pocket — the same clamshell format, monsters and traps instead of dolls' houses. The line ran to roughly eighty sets across Doom Zones, Horror Heads, Dread Heads and Battle Warriors before Mattel absorbed Bluebird. Count the figures against the set name before buying.
