About this item
Queen’s second album, released in 1974, is the heaviest and most progressive record in their catalogue. Split into a “White Side” (by Brian May) and a “Black Side” (by Freddie Mercury), it features the proto-metal epic The March of the Black Queen and the fan-favourite Seven Seas of Rhye.
The album’s dense guitar layering and operatic ambition laid the groundwork for A Night at the Opera a year later. Original 1974 UK pressings on EMI with the gatefold sleeve command the highest prices.
Less common than Queen’s later commercial hits, Queen II trades at a premium on the secondhand market. Most listings appear on the European secondhand market.
