About this item
Rule of Rose is one of the PAL PlayStation 2 titles that never got a reprint, and the spread is driven by whether the manual and original inlay are still with the disc. Rule of Rose is the legendary PS2 survival horror game that became one of the most controversial and sought-after titles in PlayStation 2 history. Released in 2006 by Punchline and published by 505 Games, it follows a young woman trapped in a surreal world of cruel aristocratic children. Its unsettling themes — child cruelty, psychological torment, and Gothic imagery — led to the game being banned or restricted in several European countries, including the UK (where it was never released) and Australia.
The EU PAL version from 505 Games became extremely rare because of the controversy surrounding its release. Complete copies trade between €150 and €200, while sealed UK/PAL copies regularly reach €200 and beyond. It is widely considered one of the most valuable PS2 games in Europe.
