About this item
The Sony ICF-2001 was the first portable shortwave receiver you tuned by typing the frequency instead of hunting for it — PLL synthesis and a keypad, in 1980. It made every analogue dial on the shelf look old overnight, and the later ICF-2001D added synchronous detection that DXers still rate.
A tight, honest market: working sets run €60–150 with the median at €150, and the best 2001D examples reach €300. The narrow spread is the point — this is a set people buy to use, not to display, so condition drives almost all of it. Check it actually receives before anything else; the common faults are a dead display and a tired tuning encoder, and a unit sold as untested usually is. Priced daily across Vinted, Marktplaats, eBay, 2dehands and Kleinanzeigen.
