Pokémon Venusaur Base Set
About this item
Venusaur (15/102) completes the iconic starter trio of the 1999 Pokémon Base Set. As the final evolution of Bulbasaur — the first Pokémon in the Pokédex — Venusaur's holographic card features Mitsuhiro Arita's classic artwork of the seed-bearing dinosaur. Often overshadowed by Charizard's hype, Venusaur is considered undervalued by many collectors.
The 1st Edition Shadowless printing is the most valuable, with graded PSA 9-10 copies commanding four-figure prices. The Unlimited edition is far more affordable and commonly found across Vinted, Marktplaats, and eBay in multiple European languages including Italian, Dutch, German, and French.
When buying secondhand, inspect the holographic surface for scratches under direct light. Check card edges for whitening and corners for bending. Verify authenticity by looking for the blue core layer visible from the card's edge — reproductions lack this. Centering is crucial for grading: compare the yellow borders on all four sides for evenness.
