About this item
Blade Runner on VHS is a collector's maze of versions. Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi noir was released, re-released, and re-cut so many times that tracking which version you're looking at is half the challenge. The original theatrical cut, the international cut, and the 1992 Director's Cut all exist on tape — each with different cover art and running times.
The original 1983 VHS release with the voiceover narration is the most sought-after for purists. The Director's Cut VHS from the early 90s is more common but still collectible. European releases — especially the Dutch, German, and Italian versions — have distinctive artwork that makes them display pieces.
Sun-faded spines are the biggest issue with Blade Runner tapes — the dark artwork shows damage easily. Check the runtime on the back to confirm which cut you're getting. A complete copy with intact insert is worth significantly more.
