About this item
Burning Rangers (1998) is Sonic Team's firefighting action game and effectively the Saturn's swan song — a fully 3D title with voice navigation and transparency effects that pushed hardware never designed for it.
It shipped in Europe in tiny numbers, months after the console had been written off, which makes it one of the scarcest mainstream PAL Saturn releases. Complete copies sell for several hundred euro, and the market is thin enough that individual listings move the price.
When buying, beware reproductions — the scarcity has attracted burned discs with printed inlays, and they surface regularly. Look for the correct disc ring code and a manual with genuine print quality. Confirm the case is original rather than a modern replacement. Japanese imports typically sell around 30% below PAL copies — the Saturn was a hit in Japan and a commercial failure in Europe, so PAL print runs were small and the scarcity is regional rather than absolute. Listings frequently do not state a region, so check the photo for the spine and box art before comparing prices.
