About this item
Jurassic Park (1993), directed by Steven Spielberg, revolutionised cinema with its groundbreaking CGI and animatronic dinosaurs. The VHS release became one of the top-selling home video titles of the 1990s, found in virtually every household across Europe and North America.
The original 1994 VHS release on CIC Video (PAL) and MCA/Universal (NTSC) are the standard collectible versions. European PAL releases in Dutch, German, French, Italian, and Spanish are widely available on the European secondhand market. The Collector's Edition with additional behind-the-scenes footage and the widescreen letterbox version are less common and carry a small premium.
When buying secondhand, check the tape for tracking issues — heavily watched copies often show wear. Look for intact cover art with the iconic T-Rex skeleton logo. The plastic clamshell case should be crack-free. Sealed copies are uncommon for such a widely owned title and command higher prices. Original rental copies from video shops, identifiable by rental stickers or stamps, are a niche collectible in their own right.
