Sonic R (1997) is Traveller's Tales' racing game for the Saturn — five tracks, running characters instead of karts, and a relentlessly cheerful Richard Jacques soundtrack that has outlived most opinions of the game itself.
It was the Saturn's only Sonic racer and one of the last notable PAL releases before Sega moved on, which keeps demand steady. Complete copies with manual sit comfortably above loose discs, and the market is deep enough to price reliably.
When buying, note that Sonic R also appeared on PC and inside later compilations such as Sonic Gems Collection — those are different and far cheaper products. Check the manual and case are present and original. Japanese imports typically sell around 30% below PAL copies — the Saturn was a hit in Japan and a commercial failure in Europe, so PAL print runs were small and the scarcity is regional rather than absolute.
