About this item
The Technodrome is priced on completeness and nothing else: the stickers, the crane and the small parts go missing first, and complete examples are scarce because of it. The TMNT Technodrome is the ultimate villain playset from Playmates' 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. Shredder and Krang's massive spherical mobile fortress — the Death Star of the TMNT universe — was the biggest, most expensive set in the entire range. It opened up to reveal multiple levels of play areas including a detention cell, a command centre with Krang's android body dock, and an eyeball periscope on top. Every kid wanted one; not every kid got one.
The Technodrome is one of the holy grail playsets for TMNT collectors. Its size, complexity, and the sheer wow factor of that giant grey sphere make it a centrepiece for any collection. Because of its bulk, many were discarded or damaged over the years — finding a complete one is a genuine treasure hunt. It's the kind of piece that separates casual TMNT fans from serious collectors.
Completeness is everything and the Technodrome has a lot of parts: the eyeball periscope, trap doors, the detention cell bars, the computer console stickers (applied or on the original sheet), and all the small accessories. Check that the two halves clip together firmly and the hinge mechanism works. Sticker condition matters hugely — peeling or missing stickers knock the value significantly. The grey plastic should be free of cracks and major discoloration. A complete, stickered Technodrome in its original box is one of the most valuable items in the entire Playmates TMNT catalogue.
