About this item
The Walt Disney Treasures line is the most respected archival DVD series Disney ever released — a numbered, limited-edition collector program that ran from 2001 to 2009 across twelve waves and twenty-seven box sets. Hosted on-camera by film historian Leonard Maltin, each two-disc tin curated a deep cut of Disney's vault: complete Mickey Mouse cartoon runs in chronological order, Donald Duck shorts, Silly Symphonies, the True-Life Adventures nature films, Davy Crockett, Zorro and more.
What sets these apart from regular Disney DVDs is the format and the production care. Each set arrives in a numbered embossed tin case with a certificate of authenticity, bonus collectible card, and dense booklets featuring restoration notes. Print runs were tightly capped — typically 100,000 to 250,000 units worldwide per release — and Disney has consistently refused to reprint them.
The result is one of the most collectible disc-media catalogs of the 2000s. Out-of-print status across the entire line means even sealed copies of common releases trade well above original MSRP, with the rarer titles (Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol. 2, Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studio) commanding several hundred euro. Verify the tin isn't dented, the certificate number is intact, and both discs are scratch-free. Region 2 European releases differ slightly in packaging and are tracked separately by serious collectors.
