About this item
Burn:Cycle (1994) is Trip Media's cyberpunk thriller for the Philips CD-i — a real-time countdown running while you hack through a corporate dystopia, and the title most often held up as proof the CD-i could do something the other formats could not.
It is the CD-i's flagship FMV game and needs the Digital Video Cartridge to run properly, which is worth budgeting for if you don't already have one. Some releases came bundled with a separate soundtrack CD, and that edition trades above the plain game.
When buying, check whether the listing is the game alone or the soundtrack edition — sellers often don't distinguish, and the difference is real. Confirm the manual is present and inspect the case hinges. Check the disc for bronzing: discs pressed at PDO Blackburn between 1988 and 1993 — etched "Made in U.K. by PDO" — can corrode, showing a bronze tint from the outer edge inward when held to light. Other pressing plants are not affected.
